Soccer Success

The season started with a bit of excitement.  More excitement from my little love Charlie but Wylie was gaining in excitement.  She wasn't 100% but she was working on it.  Charlie was , as his coach said, a "ferocious" little player.  Wylie, my little prissy love, asked her coach to sit on the bench!  The passion for the game was a bit different between the 2 you could say!!

Throughout this season, I have seen Charlie become more and more excited this sport.  He is anxious to be a part of the game.  He cheers for his team and he is bummed out for his teammates when they almost get a goal.  The little legs on his body run as fast as they possibly can each game!  Throughout this season, he has also developed a "stance" of sorts that is crouches into to wait on the ball!  It is precious!  But perhaps even more precious is the way he has decided a soccer player should throw the ball in.  Charlie barely throws the ball in when it is his turn.  He does this on purpose.  He barely throws it in then he races to it and kicks the ball with all his might!  He loves it!  The poor other teammates haven't figured this out yet but the kid loves to kick the ball and sees it as an opportunity!  I can't help but find some humor it and also think it is very clever for him to have realized this on his own!

There have been face plants on the field, kicks to the shin, cheeks that have turned red from his efforts, high fives, jumps in the air and great big smiles!  Charlie loves the field and loves playing this game!  I was so excited to see him get his trophy last night.  He was even more excited and truly treasures it!

My sweet girl Wylie!!!  Her love of the game was a little less than her brothers!  Sure she would get in there are be aggressive.  She chased the ball, she kicked the ball and she almost scored a goal!  But I will not lie.  There were times when from the sidelines we were yelling "Quit posing for the camera" and "Look alive!"  She did not hide the fact that she was not too thrilled with this sport.  She was in it for the season but that was about it.  In fact, yesterday, while driving to the last game, she reminded me that this would be her last soccer game and that in the fall she would be a ballet dancer instead!  HA!  At least she knows what is not her passion.  You gotta figure it out somehow!  And I can say, she does great on the field.  She tries but she will not hide the fact that the shin guards, sweaty hair and long shorts are FAR from her favorite!!

Despite it all, Wylie has been a player!  She has been a good team mate and watched from the sidelines, she has kicked the ball to save a play, she has smiled when she ran hard to chase the ball and she has been patted on the back many times for her hustling on the field!  She might not love the game but she certainly did her part!  Last night, she was just as thrilled as Charlie to have a trophy with her name on it!  She had such grand plans for showing it off to two of her favorite people, our nanny Mrs. Judi and her teacher, Ms. Joyner!  She couldn't wait!  She proudly displayed it on the kitchen counter so Mrs. Judi would see it when she came in!!  I was so happy for her to be so happy for herself!!

All in All, I am beyond proud of these two little loves!  I was the happiest mom to see them beaming with their trophies last night!  The bedtime cuddles I gave those babies was heart melting!  I kept reminding them both how proud I was of them!  How good they played, how fast they ran, how hard they kicked and how tough they were!  It is only Little Kickers.  They are only 5.  However, they played on that field like it was the World Cup!

Babies, you make me so proud!  I love being your momma more than there are words in this world!  Lots and Lots !!!!
