A National Day!

If you are like me, you just learned TODAY that May 15th is actually a national day of observance in our country.  A day to recognize the chewy, crumbly, sweet, delictable morsels we call chocolate chips!     I only wish I had known this earlier than 4 pm this afternoon!!!  I would have done some thing "Betty Crocker-ish"!  I would have been pinning the perfect chocolate chip recipe to have my "assistant bakers" help me prepare!  But reality is... I learned of this national observance too late and resorted to the help of the local Food Lion to help me celebrate the chocolate chip!

Now, these don't exactly look like Food & Wine came by and photographed them but I can promise these were the perfectly cooked chocolate chip cookies!   Just the right amount of chewy and still warm when we ate them!  I would classify them as ... heaven!

Just look at that.  Move over Top Chef.  The Bailey Bunch has this Pilsbury cookie think DOWN!

After we patiently waited, the little bellies in the den were able to eat their scrumptious bedtime treat!

Seeing as Ben is truly a Cookie Monster and usually asks for every meal to have cookies, I found this picture fitting.  I can only imagine his little brain saying "Oh my, how perfect and delicious this cookie is!"  His eyes closed made the picture for me.  He seriously was closing his eyes to eat this!?  Not sure why, but I prefer to stick to the perfect, delicious cookie reason!

So friends, mark May 15th down!  Next year, this momma hopes to be on her A-game and have some incredible homemade recipe ready to prepare.  (key word being hopes).

Nonetheless, I ate a chocolate chip cookie tonight and considered it a patriotic duty.  As am American Citizen, I should observe iconic dates like this...at least I think so!

Amen for Chocolate Chips and Ruth Graves Wakefield of Tollhouse for this wonderful day!
