Sometimes it is the smallest of things that make me the happiest. This weekend, I was really reminded of how happy I am. I am so blessed and fortunate and love the life I have been blessed with. Of course, there are some extra special people that make my life so wonderful. Those people just so happen to be some of the reasons my days are as happy as they are!!
Reason to be Happy #1:
Since 2008, I have been blogging to some degree. It started slowly, picked up, hit a spell of dryness during our recent move, but then I was told me blogging had been "less than par" lately, so I recommitted with new vigor! Each year, I have books published that are all the posts from that year. Until about a month ago, those books were only touched by older adults every once in a blue moon. The purpose of the books is so that one of these days, when either the internet has vanished or I am old and senial and can't remember, all of the little stories of my little loves are timelessly captured for them to read and for me to relive! They are also for my babies. I want them to know how much love and happiness there is in our family and I want them to see all the fun times, the special occasions and the silly moments that went on as they have grown up.
Recently, Wylie has taken a particular interest in these books. She LOVES to get them and look at the pictures. She asks me a million questions and just giggles as some of the silly things she sees in these books. I love that she loves these books. This is exactly why I did them and why I write these blog posts. For them to be able to remember!
This Saturday, a lazy rainy Saturday, was happening in our house. Someone the books came out and a family fun morning with a trip down memory lane began.
My heart was so full as Bubba turned the pages and talked to the kids about these stories. We laughed and said "Oh, don't you remember..." about a 100 times! I loved every minute of it! So, now I know, 100% that the posts, the blog and my books are accomplishing the very goal I had dreamed they would!
And judging by this house and these kids, I don't see the stories ending anytime soon!
Reason to be Happy #2
All of my babies have personalities all their own. But there is one little love who these days is sharing her personality 100% each and every moment she can!
Our dear Bessie Boo... not really sure how I could sum you up exactly because it would be close to impossible!! This child knows who she is and what she likes. She never worries about other people's thoughts, she just does what she wants to do and owns it! She is not shy or reserved but rather enthusiastic and ready to be a part of the action. She can melt you with her little expressions and then turn around and melt you again wearing a ridiculous outfit to dinner. She is independent, confident and determined. Once known by many by the nickname "Rattlesnake", she is feisty when she needs to be but turns to the most tender hearted little girl quickly afterwards. She is blunt yet polite, she is a charmer and is going to make her Daddy have major headaches as the boys come knocking on the door. She is all american and can rock a ballerina tutu then turn around and ask for her cowboy boots and cowboy jeans to play forts with her brothers!
I love all my children deeply. I am so thankful for this little loves personality and spirit! She keeps our family laughing and smiling! And to this day, she continues to wrap us all around that little finger!!
You are one of a kind Bessie Boo! Don't ever change!
Reason to be Happy #3
Never have I seen an obsession over an object like Ben seems to have with his cars. While we have many versions of "Red Car", Ben's undying love for which "Red Car" he is going to be connected with does fluctuate. Our current car of choice is what Ben calls "Fire Red Car". For those who know Ben, each car has it's own name that he created. It is standard language around our house these days but I bet we sound super silly to others when they hear us talking about these cars!! The kid totes these cars around EVERYWHERE he goes. My house is literally covered in them!! No lie!! I find them lining my bathtub, lined up on window sills, inside the toaster (yes, seriously), in my dryer, inside my boots... he plays with them constantly and hides them all the time! Finding them is TONS of fun so we have become very good at having multiple cars in the same style! Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not! Nonetheless, the kid's true love for his red cars is incredible!!!!
This weekend, I was not one bit surprised when I opened up my refrigerator and discovered this...
This is actually typical. This was the first time I had found them hiding inside the fridge but by no means was this a shocker that it had actually happened!
While I do let a few choice words quietly fly from my mouth when I step on them barefooted or when I crawl into bed and feel them tickling the bottom of my feet, but at the end of the day, this is what it is all about.
Ben is totally 100% in love with his cars. They are his most favorite thing in the whole wide world!! He is 100% all boy and this just proves it.
Reason to be Happy #4
I don't know one person who doesn't love a good Disney movie! Family Date Night this week was a super success thanks to the movie Frozen and the diaper bag of gas station goodies we had with us!!
Kids in tow, Bubba and I headed into the theater ready to pump our kids full of sugary treats, popcorn and soda! Clearly the mark of good parenting!!
Ben was excited!
The kids and friends were lined up ready to see the highly anticipated movie Frozen. Thanks to the soundtrack going on sale recently, we already knew some of the songs.
And at the end of the aisle was my love. Sitting beside me eating his Chewy Sprees! He even brought me along some gummy bears and peanut M&M's. True Love!!
Spending a Friday night this way is different than how Bubs and I use to spend Friday nights! Don't think either of us would change anything about what our Friday's look like now though!
My list of happy's could go on and on. I am such a blessed girl and I am so thankful for those around me that make my days brighter and my heart so full!!
