A Great Get Away!!

I am pretty sure time traveled at epic speed over this long weekend!!  My how fast four days can fly by when you are trapped in a cabin doing pretty much nothing but eating, giggling, lounging and hanging out with friends!!

I must admit the boys did good on this one.  Surprising the girls first was a big unexpected treat!  Arriving at the house and seeing how gorgeous the house was made their thoughts towards this weekend even more wonderful!!  They did a great job and I think I speak for all the girls when I say, it was a PERFECTLY GREAT getaway!!

The house was spectacular!!  Log cabin feel, high ceilings, fire places, plenty of space, great entertaining table and plenty of lounging room!  What more could we have asked for!!

Hard to see that gorgeous chandelier!! But it was there and I loved it!!

Again, not a photographic shot that would win awards but I was obsessed with these beams!! These log beams ran the length of the den and straight up both floors.  They were gorgeous!!  The stone work, stair case... it was all very tastefully done!! I was just a wee bit lazy here and was comfortable in my chair and thought this picture would suffice!

Of course the fireplace was in use from the moment we arrived until the moment we left!!  We had some master fire experts among us this weekend!! Thankfully, they knew what they were doing because we were always toasty by the fire!!

There was ALWAYS someone tending to the fire!!  Thankfully!! Love, Love, Love a fire!

The downstairs was a whole other area we never even used.  We talked about using this great area a bunch but never actually did it.  Being the person who likes it to be completely pitch black to sleep, this was were our bedroom was.  Down a hall, a bedroom with no windows was the perfect spot for me!!  I absolutely love a big cozy bed with big blankets, a sound machine and darkness!!  It was devine sleeping!!

We enjoyed WAY to many appetizers and delicious meals from this kitchen!!  Thanks to our chefs on hand breakfast, lunch, snack time, dinner, cocktail hours, all the major necessities in the culinary world were met!!

Yes, despite what he may say, Jennifer cooks better bacon and eggs than her love James!  We love you James but bless his bones, he just got a bit distracted with his task at hand!!!

Appetizers... we got this!!  (And vest for any occasion, don't we!!)

Always was a bit of everybody doing a bit of everything in the kitchen!!  Didn't have to worry, there was always food and there was always wine!

Chef Matt prepared some super fabulous Chicken Bog that was pretty out of this world!  We sure are glad those boys were able to stay at home and play dominoes all day so that chicken could boil because it was YUMMO!!

Thanks to DooDad, some "Paris Wine" got to make the trip too!  Oh how the three of us love this bottle from over the pond!!  It makes our day when this little treat gets delivered!! Thanks DooDad!

The area of much entertainment always proves to be the kitchen table and this kitchen table was no exception!!  Many serious and a few out of hand serious domino games went on at this table!  We learned who CAN play dominoes together and who CAN NOT play dominoes together!

Us girls enjoyed many hours in pajama pants and sweatshirts, pointless reality tv shows and lots of random topics about things from our new found discovery of Stich Fix to the diamond cupcakes!!  It was enlightening and relaxing at the same time.  While we did venture out, we quickly learned the teeny tiny 2 lane roads with drop offs beyond belief beside them and falling ice on the other were not really roads we wanted to drive on.  While we attempted a shopping day, it was a quick one!! Back to pjs, firepits and the boys we headed!!

There is just something fun about having someone else to sit with you until 4:30 in the afternoon in your sweats while being trapped in the mountains!  Sadly, we could have stayed in these clothes had our dinner reservations not forced us into showers!!

Mountains automatically equal fires and marshmallows!!  This group was prepared and had the perfect set up for both!!  Fire pits that were well stocked with wood throughout the night made for great conversations, good laughs and perfect sweet treats!!

Bubs, working so hard on the perfect sweet treat for his bride!!

Without one special person though, this weekend would never have happened!!
To the boy who is always being so thoughtful and caring, Thank you for all you did to make my weekend incredible!  The preplanning, the warm and stylish outer gear, the grocery shopping, the dinners, every last bit was so greatly appreciated and enjoyed!!  You are one fantastic hubby and I am thankful to have you in my life!!

Until next time Franklin, NC!!
