A Warthog Among Us?

100_6381

After having 3 babies before Mr. Ben, I am pretty accustomed to many of the newborn things that we are currently experiencing around the house.  The gazillions of diapers, the constant fixing of a pappy, the “seedy” stinkies of nursing babies…I can handle these things- no prob-lem-o!  However, the first 3 little loves did not seem to have the problem that our sweet Brother Ben has.

I am being SO honest here,  Ben’s is a VERY gassy child.  But this child’s gas is like no other!  It truly can clear a room.  You would think, how is that possible?  He is only a 6 week old baby?  Well, I can assure you, it is possible and it is EXTREME!!!    You may also be thinking, how bad can it be?  Please trust me when I say, it is bad.  On more than one occasion, others have attempted to change his diaper when it fact, there was no diaper in need of changing , it was merely Ben making  a smelly statement.

So today, we headed to our routine doctor appointment for Ben.  When asked if I had any concerns, I mentioned “gas concerns” to the nurse.  Now, our doctor is wonderful, but, doesn’t get overly concerned about anything.  He calms me down and makes me realize I must be entirely crazy!

Regardless, I mentioned Ben’s stinky gas to him.  I was so ready for the grand medical explanation I was about to be given.  However, this is what I got:

Doc:  “You remember the movie with Simba and the lions?”

Me:  “Yeah!  Lion King”

Doc:  “ Don’t you remember the warthog in the movie?  Remember, he could clear the savana after every meal.  That’s all your boy is doing.  Big things come in small packages.”

Me:  Huh.  Hmmmm.

Yes, friends, I was told my child was just like a wart hog today?

Does this look like the face of a warthog? I think not!

In other news, Brother Ben weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 oz. today!  Two pounds more than when he was born!  My little sweet baby (or warthog)  is “thriving under my care”  (another quote from our doc) !

Ha! What a funny comparison from your doctor. Bless baby Ben. Worse than Bubs? It can't be that bad, can it?? ;)
