Once upon a time… a time before I had kids , I said many things about the children I would one day have. Now let’s remember this was a time when I was only a bystander to other people who did have kids. A time when I was the one looking through all the cutesy poo magazines where price tags are clearly not priced like the local Target and thinking I would SO be buying those cutesy poo things one day. A time when I thought I would be the one making the decisions about clothing, shoes, bedroom decor… oh what little I knew and how MUCH I have come to learn!
Because good friends, these days, the most important thing to my precious little boy is what I dreaded the most before becoming a mother…
OH YES!!! Light up Buzz and Woody shoes! And it gets better- this is pair NUMBER 2!
Just how much does my child love these shoes- you may ask?
So much that this is what he chose to wear to bed. Shoes and all! He dresses himself these days so we applaud his intentions although they are slightly mismatched some days! (PS – Here our little love is screaming Buzz and Woody for the camera!)
Just to prove how influential these shoes are, I must share a story! (The shoes, by the way , are strictly play shoes for the backyard and not pretty shoes for school- I haven’t caved that much yet!) Anyways, last week, Charlie had a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day at school . I mean it- really bad. While he did get punished, part of his punishment and quite possibly the most upsetting part to this little love, was that Bubba told him he threw his Buzz and Woody shoes away! The kid was CRUSHED!!!! I mean it- devastated, upset, pitiful! After many LONG talks about things, Charlie was told he might be able to get his shoes back if he had better school days. I think he was scarred for life because since this incident, the child has been GOLDEN! Clearly, our discipline approaches will now revolve around Buzz and Woody shoes! Who knew???
So, back in the days when I SWORE my children would NEVER EVER have light up shoes, I knew NOTHING! The power of a blinking light and some plastic characters on the side of a shoe is truly bigger than I ever could have imagined. In fact, I bet it was a mom in desperation who invented them!
BUT…don’t go looking for us to be sporting our Buzz and Woody gear all over Rock Hill. We do contain ourselves and keep it to the backyard and grandparents houses.
I’m just saying, I am totally eating my own words over so many things these days that it amazes me!
Amen to Buzz and Woody light up shoes!
