Bye Bye Pappies, Hello Tacky!

For exactly 1 week now, Charlie and Wylie have known that Saturday was a big day! We all agreed that today, we would be giving Baby Taylor all of our pappies. In return for giving Baby Taylor the pappies, Charlie and Wylie were allowed to pick a prize out that they wanted. Charlie wanted a Ronnie Car prize and Wylie wanted an Ariel prize. So that was the deal. They were excited, this seemed like it might be easy!

This morning , Charlie and Wylie packed all their pappies into bags for Baby Taylor and said good bye to their long time friends! Still, their moods were festive! Anxious to get in the car and head to Baby Taylors!

So, oh yes, at 8:50 this morning I am calling Lacey to inform her that we are in route to the house with Baby Taylor’s new pappy collection! My crew was beyond excited! Seriously!!

As we walked in, Wylie immediately handed her pappies to Lacey like it was no joke. Charlie sat beside Baby Taylor and was a sweet boy giving up his favorite companion!

Just like I had promised Charlie and Wylie, Baby Taylor had 2 prizes waiting on my loves!

Wylie was the first to dive in only to discover Baby Taylor had given her a fantastic Princess pillow!

Charlie, who, at first, was more interested in Baby Taylor’s toys than his present opened his bag to discover a Ronnie car and Mater pillow! Their little worlds were wonderful!

But then I informed Charlie and Wylie that Mommy and Daddy had another surprise at the house and we had to get back in the car and head home to see what the Pappy Fairy had left! With excitement, we loaded up !

Now, before I go any further I must tell you. I DISPISE character apparel of any kind! Ask my sister who can attest to this. It makes me cringe! And since before becoming a mommy I have sworn that I would NEVER purchase such things for my children. I have even refused hand-me-downs from my sister for the shear fact that Princesses were slathered all over them!!

HOWEVER, I have hit a breaking point. Actually, I blame this one on Bubba who could only discuss his childhood as we walked the aisles of Target last night! While only intending to buy 2 pillows for our Pappy Party, I was suckered into purchasing a much larger and TACKIER purchase! Because folks, what I am about to show you is pretty rough! It is more than over the top! It is EXTREME! And it is SO NOT ME!!!! But, for the sake of my children and because I would never want to be the mommy who deprives her children of pure excitement… I caved and bit the tacky bullet!

Waiting on Charlie and Wylie at our house was …

(YIKES!!!) Ronnie Car bedding and Princess bedding!

I can not even write in words how excited and thrilled these 2 children were to have their new beds! While I realize Pottery Barn won’t be knocking down my door asking me for a photo shoot anytime soon, I have made the day for 2 special little people!

So, yes, my sweet matching nursery is gone and we are now welcoming the blinding amounts of tacky character apparel into our homes.

I also know that these tacky comforters and sheets will grace the presence of my linen closet for years to come. Because I will never be able to part with them knowing how in love with these characters they are and how excited they were the day they got them! I know my mom has my brother’s Ninja Turtle sheets at our house and Bubba had Transformer sheets and CLEARLY, they made a lasting impression on him so how could I ever deprive my children of such joy!

I am now a proud member of the tacky club and LOVE it!!

But, rest assure, we still won’t be prancing around town with our tacky gear on. It remains indoors for only our eyes to be blinded by!!
