Gingerbread Traditions

Five Years Ago (CRAZY that is how long ago it was!!!!) , my mom and I were invited to our first Gingerbread Decorating Event! An event that was started around 10 years ago and still to this day continues thanks to a simple promise Lucy and her sister made to her mom!!  Without that little promise, this tradition might not be one of the highlights of our Holiday Season!

At our first Gingerbread Decorating Event, Charlie and Wylie were 10 months old and I think they ate more than they decorated!  Mom and I did the decorating and I must say the houses were phenomenal!!

Fast Forward 5 years and 4 kids later... the tradition continues!  A tradition that comes to mean more each and every year!!

These days, the tradition in who attends has been modified because while I did attempt including all my children, I quickly realized this was a task best suited for my two sweet baby girls!

In a matter of seconds, the girls were busy decorating with their icing or "glue"!

Bess of course was all smiles just happy to be having a messy time!!

Wylie, on the other hand, was the definition of FOCUS!  The child was the first to the table and the last to leave!  And the only reason she left the table was because I told her she HAD to be done!  Bless!!  She would have decorated that gingerbread house for an entire day if I had let her!!

Bess was kind enough to let me "help" her and together we created a masterpiece!!
Wylie would have never heard of such a thing!  My little independent Picasso that she is!

After all the icing, candy, peppermints, twizzlers and fruit loops had been applied, the girls were beyond proud of this year's editions of their Gingerbread Houses!

And I was thankful for another Sunday afternoon, surrounded by my babies and my bestie for allowing us to again be apart of the tradition started so long ago in their family!

And who wouldn't be more thankful that sweet MA for the little "treats" she may or may not have received while we decorated these masterpieces!!!

Sure there was a big mess left on that dining room table.  Sure sticky fingerprints were every which a way.  Sure, us moms, along with their children were covered in icing and melted chocolate.  But, traditions with dear and irreplaceable friends make all the chaos worth it!!

Thank you so much Lucy and Connie for inviting us and for keeping the tradition alive!  Special memories are being made that will be parts of our holiday memories forever!
Love ya'll !!
