New York, New York!

June marked an exciting milestone in our marriage!  We celebrated our first decade of marriage!  My how time flies!!  As we have been packing and moving, I have looked through wedding photos several times and I just laugh!  June 21, 2003 was such a wonderful day!  I would relive that day all over again if I could!!

To celebrate our decade, Bubs planned a surprise trip for me.  To let the cat out of the bag, he told me to go into the girls room where the movie Annie was playing.  I didn't think anything of this because my girls watch Annie religiously!  He then asked me to go downstairs.  Lion King was on the tv in the den.  Again, my kids love some Simba and Nala so I didn't think anything about it.  The clue that gave it away was playing in Charlie's room.  One of the best Christmas movies was playing on the screen- Home Alone.  Then and there I knew we were heading to the Big Apple.  Didn't know why but I knew the location.  I would later learn, I was being treated to a Broadway showing of Annie and Lion King!  This made my day in so many ways!

After a rocky start to our journey, thanks to the unsympathetic security officer who made me toss all my  hair products from my bags leaving me with nothing, we boarded the plane.  We sat on the plane, and sat on the plane and sat on the plane some more.  After a very long wait, we were flying the friendly skies to New York!

After arriving and settling in, it was off to explore and figure this big city out!
Our first adventure lead us to the area known as the Chelsea Market.  I loved this area and the food here was insane good!

Our first stop was a great low key bar called The Tippler.  I could have stayed here all night!  It was so easy going and quaint inside!

Before our dinner reservations we walked around and could resist taking a picture of these delicious treats!  I wanted to buy these but Bubs wasn't on my wave length!  I actually really wanted to ship them home to the kids.  How much would they have freak out if we could get them home to them!

Before our trip, Bubba had watched a show on the Food Network about the best burgers in America.  Lucky for us, one was able to be found in New York !  After booking our reservations, our bellies waited patiently to dine at the Old Homestead.

When I say every bite of our meal was delicious, I mean every word of it!  I don't know if there are enough adjectives to describe how wonderful our meal was!  I left there fat and happy!   I think we both did!

Because we were literally stuffed to death, our tired little bodies headed to bed ready to walk the city the next day!  After a quick stop at a local coffee shop we would end up going to numerous times, we were off!

I think we walked 20 miles!  Pretty sure.  However, along the way we did stop in for some delicious pizza.  It was carb heaven and I loved it all!!

I was so pumped about picking up our tickets for Annie!  I was beyond excited actually!

During the many streets I traveled throughout the day though, I was so excited to see this building!  Project Runway is one of my favorite shows and I was just hoping I would see a bunch of designers with Mood bags or Heidi Klum near the doors.  I didn't but I sure hoped I would!

Cocktails before Annie were in a lounge bar right next to our hotel.  It was the Blue Bar, hence the coloring!  As expected, the food and drinks here were incredible!

But possible the best thing that happened before I saw Annie was cheesecake!  Fresh, homemade, authentic cheesecake.  I think I inhaled my piece without even tasting it!  The before and after picture of my container was pretty sad.  Yes, I ate every bite and no I didn't regret it!  Aghhhh, it was SO GOOD!

Words don't even tell you how thrilled I was to know we were going to Annie!  I was ecstatic!

Our seats were incredible!  I had the best view thanks to a great anniversary trip planner!

Annie was magical.  I cried and smiled the entire time!  It was simply wonderful.  If they would have let me, I am pretty sure I would have joined them on stage to sing!  Definitely one of the best things I did in New York!

But up next was Lion King!  I was super excited for Bubba to see this one!  I had seen the traveling show but I couldn't wait for Bubs to experience it too!  And as expected, we were impressed!  The production is incredible and makes me want to sing like that Rifiki woman!!  Loved her!!

That evening, we were recommended a restaurant to try.  Before our dinner, I couldn't resist stopping in an Italian restaurant near by.  The smell of cheese and pasta was mouth watering!

I had told myself I would not be eating anything at this Italian place because I knew we were about to go crazy on the food we were going to eat for dinner.  However, I could NOT resist and I am so glad!!

This little delicious appetizer of asparagus and cheese lightly fried and served with MORE cheese was out of this world!  So glad Bubba wouldn't touch it because that left it all for me!!

But my belly had no idea what was about to happen.  Buddahkan was a knock your socks off meal that was spectacular.  Bubba and I ordered so much food because we couldn't decide or resist the menu choices!  We ate and ate and ate until we were miserable.  But it was worth every bite!

I think in looking back, it is safe to say we experience New York through Broadway and food!  Our trip was a wonderful get away!

Thank you Bubs so much for making every detail of our trip wonderful!  I am a lucky, lucky girl to have you!

Here's to many more decades together!
