Not Just A Sandwich

I can still see the blue Mickey Mouse and pink Minnie Mouse sandwich cutter in the drawer. On sandwich days, my mom would imprint the shape into the bread for a special surprise in our lunchboxes. Today, those sandwich cutters are still alive and well in a drawer in the kitchen of 357! They are heirlooms. Priceless treasures now being used on our kids!

I know it is silly but I have always known when I had kids, I would do what so many mommas do... use cookie cutters to cut sandwich shapes for my babies to eat at lunch. A little reminder that say you love them.

Now granted, my babies are not quite 2 and don't know the difference in any sandwich shape, but hey, it is the love that was put into it! So tonight, for the first time of the million more times to come... I christened the cookie cutters with peanut butter and jelly! Laugh if you will but...I kind of puddled up over it!

You may think it doesn't matter but I happen to know it does. Even in the 4th grade, I happen to teach a special little girl who everyday her momma does this for her, she still smiles and wants me to see what shape was in her lunchbox. It does matter and one of these days, when Charlie and Wylie wonder just why did their momma do such a thing, I hope they know the answer is simple: I love them so much, that I will use cookie cutters at 11:15 at night just so they can have an exciting lunch made with love! So until I am forced and banned from the use of cookie cutters in lunchboxes, my kids can go ahead and bank of having shapes for lunchtime!

I do it all for them!

My little man and a little stinker!

Something they will remember forever just like you do!! Nothing like a "cuprise" in the ol' lunchbox. I give Burns one everyday and she can't wait to open her lunchbox each day!! It's the little things!!!!

That is so sweet! Of course, I know one 4th grader who's sandwich is not cut into a shape! :) Keep Abby at the other end of the table, some days it's amazing she gets a lunch! How do you do it? Endless energy? Cloning? I want your secret!

How funny! I did the same thing for a child I babysat last week...just trying to get him to EAT. Unfortunately with him, all my efforts didn't suffice. Love cookie cut sandwiches! Charlie, Wylie and Bess are very lucky. :) Love ya!

My mom always did that for us and it is funny how somethings stick with you and you know that one you will do them for your kids!
