Charlie's Words of Wisdom

Dear Baby Bess,

As your older brother, one of my supreme duties will be to always protect you. You can count on me for this. The boys will come knocking and it will be me (and our great ol' daddy) they answer to. But Baby Bess, I feel as your older brother, I am also responsible for making sure you experience life to the fullest! Never leaving a moment wasted or an opportunity left unseized! So today Baby Bess, I think you are ready. I feel that you are at the perfect age! Today, I am bestowing upon you a very special contraption. It is a spot I spent COUNTLESS hours when I was a wee little one, just like you! (Ahhh, those were the days!) Yes Baby Bess, say good bye to the bouncy seat and say hello to excitement!

Your first moments in the seat may be a bit scary. Don't worry. I will tell you all you need to know! Listen, I know you will be thinking, just why did these people hang me from the ceiling and leave me here? You will ask yourself, "Why are they staring at me?" Baby Bess, I can only offer you this one piece of advice, just give em' what they want! Give em' that ear to ear smile. Make some noises and most importantly use those 2 little legs the good Lord gave ya! And if you get a little drowsy and feel a snooze coming on- don't be shy! You can totally take a nap standing up. I became a pro at this!

Here is the thing... you are practically sitting on the Holy Grail here Baby Bess! Ahhhh, the memories I have of my days in the Jump Up! While being strung up to the ceiling, I saw many milestones occur. Everyone was so pumped up and squealed and ooohhed and ahhhed when Wylie rolled over. Big deal... I was jumping. Just wait til you roll over... it really isn't that grand. Jumping is so much better! The best part is, the higher and harder you bounce, the more these people love it! So make as much noise as you want! I dare you to make a dent in the door molding like I did! They love that! Momma and Dadda call it "character"!

I know this is only the beginning of the many pieces of advice your ol' bro has for you in the years to come!

Jump On Baby Bess!

Love, Charlie

ps- Don't listen to your sister and her opinions of the jump up! She spent all of 4 seconds in there before throwing a really good fit and refused to ever be happy in there when Momma and Daddy tried to entice her with it! If you want my opinion she was a little bit of a show off. Just believe me when I tell you, if you see her coming and she jibber jabbers at you something about... Wanna do something really fun? My advice... just bust into a really loud scream! They don't call her a "mess" for nothing Baby Bess!!!

One of Wylie's very few encounters with the jump up. I think her face screams with excitement!

"Wanna try something fun Baby Bess?!"

Thanks to Charlie's wonderful words of wisdom, this is the new "home" for Baby Bess in our kitchen! Gone are the days of bouncy seats on the counter!

Don't be scared! I am right here with you!

Okay, this thing gets really annoying! Who makes a toy with only 1 song on it?!

Thanks to Big Bro... Baby Bess is loving life!

And so ... another Bailey Baby bounces on!

I honestly thought that Bess might celebrate her sweet 16th still in the bouncy seat on the counter, but I am glad to see she has moved on to the Jump up! It looks like she enjoys it.
