Oh the Joys of Christmas Trees!

I know there are many other insane people out there who share my obsession with Christmas trees!  I take the entire thing very seriously.  The finding the perfect tree, the trimming of the tree, the lighting and decorating of the tree…it is one of my MOST FAVORITE things!

Tree Picking Weekend 2012 was a family affair! We loaded our crew in the bus and headed to our tried and true Farmers Market in search of our Perfect Tree!  We have always had fantastic results from this tree location so we are a bit scared to break tradition.  (While hear me, oh love of mine…I will one day talk you into the family drive to the mountains in search of our perfect Christmas Tree!  It will happen, one day!!!)  DSC_0152

As usual, the chaos in choosing a tree begins!  Me walking around paying no attention to anything but trees, Bubba checking a few out and reminding me we don’t have 20 foot ceilings and the kids darting in and out of the tree rows chasing one another!  Oh how shop owners love when my crew comes in!

But after much debating, relooking, suffering and more debating, relooking and suffering, I finally decided on a tree!

May I present The Bailey Bunch Family Tree 2012!

A bit smaller than our years past but the crowd seemed please.  However, for the record, I came extremely close to giving in and having a Charlie Brown tree this year.  This poor little tree I saw was just screaming to be cut down!  How I wished I could have had a house where I needed another tree!  Bless that tree’s heart, I hope someone fantastic bought it!

And so the fun begins…the stand, the positioning, the picking of the front of the tree!  Always a fun time for Bubs!

A faithful helper laid at beside me every step of the lighting the tree way!  He was really into the festive spirit with me!

Finally, the 3,000+ light tree was finished.  The ornaments were hung carefully from the half way mark and up to prevent little Bennie Boo from running off with them and throwing the “balls”.

The Momma was happy!  The kids were happy!  The husband was happy!

UNTIL…

The tree came a tumblin down!

Yes, all my beautiful and precious ornaments, all the lights that were so meticulously placed and the hours of squinting I had done to place each bulb in a precise location…all my work was staring at me on the floor.

So I sobbed.  And no lie, Charlie who witnessed the entire event, had his hands covering his face, sobbing too!  A child after my own heart… loves a Christmas Tree!

I called Bubba in true hysterics.  The love of  my life, dropped his golf clubs in the middle of his golf game to come home and save the day!

Fortunately, the tree went back up…this time tied securely to the wall!

Unfortunately, the 3,000+ lights that had once been on it, were now laying in a pile of knotted beauty staring at me!

While I did not intend on spending my Sunday afternoon redecorating my tree, I found myself doing so.  With the help of a little Christmas music, my sweet babies and a hubby who cooked dinner while I redecorated, my tree is now back up and in action.  Still in need a strand or 5 of lights at the top, but close enough!

Merry Christmas and may the Tree Gods be ever in your favor!
