Shopping Surprise

So as I prepared to blog tonight, I had full intentions of documenting our next 2 days that were enjoyed at Pawleys.  That was the plan until I went shopping with Bess tonight!

Bubs had the boys, I had the girls and off I tear like a Momma on a Mission through Belk.  (I am giggling every sentence I write just thinking about this… just so everyone knows.)  So anyways, as I am attempting to drag my 2 girls through the store, I hear Wylie say “Mommy, look!”

That is when I see this…

And this sweetheart standing beside it…

Despite, being SO EMBARASSED, and wanting to look around to see if anyone spotted Bess’ run in with the mannequin, I did my best to reconnect the arm, however, I failed.  So, while I should have probably walked up to the sales lady and given her the disconnected arm, I didn’t.  I just laid it gently at the poor mannequins feet and practically bolted!  Wrong , I know!

Point was, by this moment in time, I am red in the face and I turn to Bess for an explaination.

She looks up at me and in her totally innocent and  heartfelt words she says:  “But Mom, I was just shaking her hey!”

And I lost it…

Oh Bessie Boo, you make us laugh more than you will ever know!  We love you lots & lots!  Never change baby girl, never change!

Life at Pawley’s

The Rutland family had a fantastic and wonderful time at Pawley’s this year!!!  With 6 kids and some crazy adults, there were very few dull moments!  It didn’t take long for the craziness to start once RahRah whipped out a surprise treat for the kiddos (& Jeffery!)  Needless to say, we saw these shades all week!

Pawleys 1

Boogie Boarding was the thing to do with this crew of kiddos this year!  In the ocean, surfing the waves was the only thing they wanted to do!  We were a little rusty from last year, but Charlie and Wylie quickly picked up their natural surfing skills and showed off all their moves again this year!

Pawleys 2

The big boys were always up for a new activity or form of entertainment.  This year, these studmuffins decided skin boarding was their calling!  The pictures speak for themselves!   Bless their souls!

I love that Pawleys is full of little puddles!  Our family spends all day in these and thankfully Ben loves them!

 Pawleys 6

My kids had never experienced the Wii before this year’s beach trip!  It was a HIT!!!  During lunch breaks or after we would come in every afternoon, this was the chosen activity!  We had some serious dance moves going on in this house!

 Pawleys 7 Pawleys 8

And since all the moves sported by the children were because their fathers are such rock star dancers, the dads got in on it too!  Nothing like a friendly dance competition between silly boys!  Good laughs!

Pawleys 9

While at Pawley’s this year, we also learned that despite showing us no skills learned from her previous cheerleading camp, Wylie really did learn at least 1 pose.  The cheer itself was quite the sight to see but at least I got something for the money we paid!

Ben was never far from his broom.  He found this broom at the house and walked around with it ALL THE TIME!!!!  Getting it from him to use it was quite the feat!

 Pawleys 10

Monday was a beautiful day on the beach! Happy kids, sunshine, and waves!  What is better?  The tent provided plenty of moments for Charlie to teach DooDad a few Spiderman moves and how to throw a web to save the world!

 Pawleys 11

As I sat under the tent, I saw such a precious site!  2 of my favorite people having a deep conversation about something (probably Dora or a good song)!  Oh how I love these two!!

 Pawleys 12

And then it was time for more boogie boarding fun!  Wylie was a pro!  And loved EVERY minute of it!!!

Ben could not get enough of his puddle time each day!  So thankful for smiles from this little man!

More to come on the rest of our restful Pawley’s week!

Garden City- The Final Installment

We were so thankful the weather at GC decided to cooperate with us for the end of the week!  After Thursday’s beautiful day in the sun, we were excited to have the whole fam on the beach together for a day of play!

The last day of any beach trip is a bit sad…you know it is going to end and reality is going to strike back!  But we did all we could to soak up the sun and sand!   \

Charlie loved playing in the sand with his Daddy and driving his big truck through his new sand hole!

Even if boogie boards don’t get used exactly as they are intended, they really do make fabulous snack seats for precious little girls!

GC D5.2

Another little girl found herself a hole and  played in it for a good bit!

 GC D5.3

And despite his truly spectacular and Oscar worthy temper tantrum on the beach, followed by a long nap, we finally, finally saw some smiles on this little mans face!  I am still in amazement of his curls, hence, the picture.

GC D5.4

Though the tide was coming in, this crew still soaked the sun up!

GC D5.5

So happy to have my family surround me on such a beautiful day!

 GC D5.6

And finally, I think it is safe to say that while no pictures of the evening card games for the adults were snapped  (and aren’t we glad!!!),  this image will forever remind our family of a wonderful, laughter filled evening!

Thank you YaYa and PopPop for a wonderful vacation to GC!  This crew had a fantastic time!

Garden City- Collage Style Continues…

So in looking back through my pictures, Tuesday must have been action packed because I have hardly any photos from the day!  Never fear though, I found some from Wednesday and Thursday!

To back track, the weather on Tuesday was yet another day that Tropical Storm Debby interfered with our beach plans.  So come Wednesday when we saw sunshine, we were all anxious to be beach bums!  Didn’t quite realize the SUPER CRAZY blowing wind outside was going to be a bit of a challenge with 6 little ones!

Wednesday, we coated the crew down in sunscreen and headed out into the sunshine!   Armed with a Superman kite, Charlie was pumped about flying his kite with Pop Pop and Daddy!  But the SUPER CRAZY wind presented a bit of problem!  Go Figure!

GC D3.1

Armed with plenty of matching clothes and bathing suits, the Cousins were forced into many a picture on this trip.  Since the sand was pelting our legs and the kids were screaming, we opted for the steps.  This was the best it got!

And what better way to keep 6 kids happy than to just put them in a blow up pool in the back yard where the SUPER CRAZY wind doesn’t blow sand at you!

GC D3.2

But Bessie thought the turkey fryer/chicken bog/crab pot that was brought along on the trip suited her just fine!

GC D3.3

At the end of no nap Wednesday, we were all singing along with Annie  “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow!”   and thankfully it did!!!

Thursday was a day of sunshine, beach bums, seashells, waves and happy kids!  Not much is better than that!

Amen for the blow up pool from Wal-mart!  This crew loved the pool and if Ben was happy, everyone was happy!

GC D4.1

This surfer girl was ready for the waves and loved riding her boogie board!

 GC D4.2

The sunshine was shining, the kids were happy, Ben was in a good mood and all was well!

GC D4.3

My sweet little man was a beach bum.  Proud of his castles but not a fan at all of mommy’s picture taking!  There are very few folks!

 GC D4.4

Again, I must say, I love my little love with all my heart but this child has a serious temper like no other child of mine!  We were so thankful for this smiling face!

GC D4.5

If you weren’t already aware, Garden City has Lava Rock!  Impressive huh?  We were shocked each time we found some.  It was truly a treasure!

 GC D4.6

Bess and YaYa met a lady carrying starfish.  My fearless little one was precious holding something so fragile and rarely seen!

 GC D4.7

My little boys…how thankful I am for the friendship I already see forming between these two!

 GC D4.8

Back at the pool, nothing cools a beach bum off better than a cold ice cream sandwich!  This was a first for Ben and I think it is safe to say he loved it!

 GC D4.9

Our own Uncle Party Rocker was also a great  poolside jumper!  I just giggle watching this series of pictures!  Bess just didn’t have the hang of it!

 GC D4.10

GC D4.11

After a day of golfing, we were thankful for the big boys to come home so the mommas could take a few minutes off.  These babies sure loved swimming in the pool with their Pop Pop!

GC D4.12

Ben seems to be learning new things so quickly these days!  Over our vacation, Bubba taught him to “jump”.  He loves it and you can find him in the house now just jumping and giggling!  Precious!

 GC D4.13

Now, I don’t know what the fascination was with this tree but you could often find Ben under the tree, playing with the tree, hiding behind the tree.  I found it only fitting to capture the moment!

 GC D4.14

Just enjoying the grass with the world’s soggiest diaper!

 GC D4.15

These 3 were never ones to shy away from some sort of triple trouble!

 GC D4.16

We decided to take a walk to a friend’s house Thursday night and try, attempt, beg for our children to take some pictures on the dock in their matching outfits!  Sunglasses were a must for most of our activities, this one included.

 GC D4.17

I could say so much about these two.  Thick as thieves!  We can already predict some dorm bunking with Bess and Lillie in the future!

GC D4.18

Picture taking with this crew…always an extremely large bribing session!  I couldn’t help but find the picture of all 6 precious and so reflective of the moment!

 GC D4.19

And even though this one had her evil eyes cut at the camera for most of the pictures, this innocent and precious picture was snapped.  Love this baby!

GC D4.20

Now, friends, I do have a rather important date tomorrow night with the love of my life and the band Coldplay, so hold your horses for the final installment of Garden City Collage Style!
