Sidewalk Smurfs

With the beautiful afternoon that was upon us yesterday, I decided that we would absolutely be spending our time outside using up every ounce of energy we possibly could!  At first my afternoon plan consisted of the kids playing peacefully and quietly on the playground out back while I sat on the deck reading my book.  Did this happen- absolutely not!!  A Plan B was needed!

Thanks to the many moments I have spent looking at toddler fun activities, I was able to come across a recipe for Homemade Sidewalk Chalk Paint.  The recipe was simple, I had most everything on hand so …. why not!

At first this project was tame and very under control!

The artwork we were creating over at 709 was beautiful to say the least!

Quickly, this afternoon fun activity of painting turned into a wee bit more!  And before you know it, this crew looked like a set of Smurfs!

Please, know, these images really don’t do the whole experience justice!  However, since we did have to strip down to our undies for this event, I figured the internet was the least appropriate place to show them!

Trust me when I say, these kids enjoyed this activity thoroughly!

I will definately be doing this activity again BUT…

1) I will do this last in our day, right before bathtime,  Not smack in the middle of the day!

2) I will have a plenty of cornstarch, baking soda and washable paint ready because I made 3 batches of this stuff and it went like wildfire!

So all you mommy friends, try this activity out!  A Messy one but FUN!
