In preparation for Bess’ upcoming birthday, today Wylie, Bess and I made multiple pans of rice krispies! As usual my two little kitchen helpers were right by my side for all the cooking fun- eating every step of the way! In typical fashion, everything I used in my recipe, they also had in their bowls. So today, their bowls consisted of marshmallows and rice krispies!
Fast forward to dinner: While it was anything from gourmet, watermelon, hotdogs and pudding were on the menu! I plopped all the kids down and immediately begin to hear Wylie’s sob story about how she no longer wants the items on her plate. In true motherly fashion, I informed her this was the only thing that was being served at this diner and eat it or go put on pajamas! And then, she became quiet. Thinking I had made such an impact and won the dinner battle, I kept on going about my kitchen duties while they ate, never taking the time to focus on the oh-so-elegant paper plates!
Only, when I finally did walk over to the table, this is what I saw on Wylie’s supper plate!
Voila! A new supper fit for our sneaky junk food eater!!
When asked where her hot dog and watermelon were, I was quickly informed “Mommy, they are hiding! Just like hide-n-seek! “
So yes, I caved. All I could do was giggle and shake my head. Tonight, Wylie won the dinner battle!
Oh well, we shall aim for veggies tomorrow!
