If Nana only knew...

Hand-me-down furniture, where would we be without it! Sadly, I believe Charlie and Wylie's day would be less exciting without Nana's chairs. There is no telling what these chairs have witnessed over their lives. Born probably somewhere around 1960, these chairs have been snoozed in, laughed in, reupholstered, moved from city to city and finally have found their resting home in my den. Once when their days at Nana's were consumed by people gathered in the den to watch a football game or open Christmas presents, now their days consist of being tortured (with love) by 2 of Nana's greatgrandchildren. These two chairs endure tears, sticky fingers, dirty feet, and some rather "refreshing" diapers all from 2 incredibly active 1 year olds! And I venture to say, Nana probably wouldn't care if this is the form of entertainment that Charlie and Wylie are choosing to have in her handmedown chairs!

Just look at all the fun these two chairs provide!

Really, could you be mad at this face for jumping on your chairs?

Base Jumping Anyone?

I begin by asking- does this look like the face of a child who would do anything he isn't suppose to? Does this look like the face of a child who is in constant mischief and adventure? Oh.... our dear Charlie... how you do keep us on our toes!

So during tonight's "settling down" time before bed, this is what Bubba and I discovered Charlie doing. I am choosing to believe that this activity was his way of using all the remaining energy his little body had before bedtime.

What would our world be like without the zest for life that Charlie shows us daily? So in love with our little man and his many adventures!

The Zoo Crew!

Who was more excited about a trip to the zoo- Charlie and Wylie or me and Bubs?! Who can't be happy at the zoo?! So bright and early this morning, the Bailey bus loaded up and we all headed to our old stomping grounds for a family trip to the zoo! Yes it was 900 degress and yes there were 900 people there- however, we braved it all!!

Of course one of the first exhibits was one of Bubba's favorites. The Lions. Bubba has taught Wylie what a lion says. When you ask her, she will say "rahhhh"! In Wylie's world, at the moment, all animals say "rahhh" so we heard this all day long!

Off to the Farm at the Zoo we headed! Charlie loves birds! He is a little confused about the whole bird family at the moment though. All birds in Charlie's world say "Quack, Quack". Ducks, Flamingos, Roosters, Turkeys, they are all the same in his little world. For some reason, he will say Duck but any other bird is called Momma. Not sure what this is all about. We just go with it!

Then guess who Charlie and Wylie found... real live Bunny Foo Foo's!!! We were so pumped!

Charlie's favorite word (besides golf cart) is light. Pronounced "Liiiiiiiight". Here we are surrounded by animals and Charlie could only focus on the lights in the barn.

Next, Wylie met the goat. If this isn't precious I don't know what is. Wylie kept leaning in towards the goat trying to give it love. She would hold on to Bubs and lean in say "Oooo O"- which is code for I love you.

Onwards towards more birds for Charlie we headed! Charlie observed from his ride the "birds" and guess what he said this time- "Cocky". We have been working on this. I am pretty sure it was a heartwarming moment for Bubs! If only Wylie would say it too!

Then the Bailey Bus was off to feed Mr. Goat. Not a zoo trip without feeding the critters! Charlie was more interested in pointing to the goats eye while I was feeding him.

By far, my favorite part of the zoo is the giraffe exhibit! We fought through the 900 million people at this exhibit just to get a picture of sweet "Ralph"- that is what I have called giraffes since I could talk. To this day, my "Ralph" that I slept with growing up watches over Charlie and Wylie in their room. I heart giraffes!

After my short lived encounter with Ralph, Wylie discovered the turtles. She was all about these little guys. She plopped herself on the fence and could have watched the turtles all day long. She and Bubs had some deep conversations on the fence about the turtles while I was in charge of manning SpiderMan who was totally uninterested in Yertle the Turtle!

After a quick bite to eat and an interesting diaper fiasco with Charlie at the table, the fam was ready to ride the Choo Choo train. Again, I think we were more pumped than the kids. Plus, we rode in the giraffe cart- omen? I think so!

Hot, humid and with a gazillion other people, the Bailey Bunch conquered the zoo. We saw the sights, rode the rides, feed the critters and of course left with sourveniers. It was a perfect day! Can't wait for next year's trip when sweet Baby Bess can come along for the fun!

And a good time was had by all!

Picasso at his finest!

I suppose this moment in my life as a parent was bound to happen! I should have taken better precautions when I noticed Charlie's recent interest in the computer desk drawers that are filled with school supplies. After nap today, when my house was surprisingly all too quiet, I discovered a future artist just simply trying to draw a masterpiece! Take note of the concentration on the face and the obvious inspiration that Blue Bunny Foo Foo is offering!

So, as any good parent would do, I had to intervene and put a stop to all the fun! I took the moment to try to set a good example and teach Charlie how to erase. What was I thinking? He was just as concentrated here- can you tell?!

But then big bad momma had to really step in and pry the pencil from the hand of the future Picasso! Let's just say, someone was NOT happy about this parental decision.

After the toddler conversation that consisted of "Oh No Charlie, Hurt the Wall!" Everyone, including Blue Bunny Foo Foo, hugged and made up.

Auction Bids for the priceless first drawing by Charlie Bailey will begin soon.

Breaking News: WCB Channel 709

We begin our coverage tonight after a 17 month old was apparently attacked by a rabid chocolate Jello Pudding Pack. While the toddler tried to fight the pudding pack off, it appears that his pint sized efforts were not victorious. Reports have indicated the toddler, Charlie Bailey, was enjoying a delicious meal of grilled cheese when the rabid chocolate pudding pack began attacking his face leading to a messy catastrophe. Witnesses of the attack report that the child did not seem injured or harmed by the pudding . One witness stated, "The child seemed thrilled by the pudding pack!" We recently received word from an inside source that the child was taken to the upstairs bathroom for further inspection after the attack.

In other news tonight, another disturbing incident at the same residence involving an infant. A missing persons report was filed after discovering a missing infant. In the midst of the attack of the Jello Pudding Pack, Bess Bailey, sister to the attacked Charlie Bailey, was unable to be located. A search party was formed and immediately began their search. Thankfully, the infant had been disguised in a duck costume to prevent any further attacks of the Jello Pudding Pack. Witnesses say the costume quite possibly saved her life.

Reporting live for WCB Channel 709, I'm Wylie Bailey.
