Toes in the Sand!

The bags have been packed, the car has been loaded, and the husband’s reminder list has been written. After the 4 hour (+) car ride we have up and coming, we have the waves, sun and fun to look forward to! Momma and the Bailey Bunch are heading to the beach with the fam!

Due to the arrival of Bess during the summer last year, we have not been beach bound since the Bailey Duo looked like this!

Although Charlie and Wylie have no idea what the beach is, they have been saying it for days now. They are just pumped about doing one of their favorite activities- riding in Mommy’s car! Little do they know!! They are about to ride in Mommy’s car that’s for sure! A full 4 hours of riding in Mommy’s car. Let’s see how much we enjoy ourselves after the ride down!

Happy Sunbathing, Wave Splashing and Sunscreening!

What you just might see

Around here, at any given moments, it is very possible you may see anyone of these events going on. This clearly showcases the great parenting that can happen around this joint!

You may be graced by Wylie as she gives her “face”!

100_4614

You may look over and see that Charlie has decided to wear his entire plate of ranch and carrots… on his head.

100_4617

You may see Baby Bess doing her fake cry because she has been asked to sit down in her highchair and quite frankly, she would rather not!

100_4767

You might be greeted by a 4 foot tall “monster” who when asked if he has seen Charlie, “it” replies – “ Charlie right here!”

100_4759

You might see how the influence of an older brother rubs off on a younger sister.

100_4674

You might scream in fright as you reverse your car down the driveway only to discover Naked Baby has been safely harnessed in your empty and childless car!

100_4135

You very likely will see this picture from the Time Out Corner!

100_4308

Or you could finally catch a little Wipey Elf in action as she quietly cleans her baby doll!

Although this house may seem chaotic, crazy or unstructured, I assure you, we aren’t. Despite what the photos say!

However, our house is full of love and memories that I cherish more and more each and every day! I love my sweet babies!

Hello HOT!

Goodness Gracious!  Are there words adequate enough to describe the heat of the South?!  Since the weather around here pretty much makes it so that you can’t breathe, we have found ourselves in the pool most afternoons!  This works out perfectly seeing as how my children are practically fish anyways and wake up in the mornings asking to go swimming!

Charlie has a love for “unique” fashion and pool fashion is anything be the exception!

100_4051

But once we arrive at the pool, Charlie’s true oneness with Nemo comes out and he is a jumping or sliding machine!  Thankfully his BFF Burns is a jumping machine too!

100_4790

Charlie has also discoverd his love for goggles in the pool!  It is quite hilarious.  He doesn’t like to get them wet but he sports them with style!

100_4788

Wylie is a wild card!  Somedays, Wylie is jumping off the 3rd step or trying to run down the slide instead of slide.  Other days she is too adult to do those kiddy things and would rather lounge by the pool awaiting her goldfish and Capri Sun!

100_4629 100_4626 Sweet Baby Bess is Miss Independent in the pool!  She doesn’t need any help and don’t dare offer it to her because she squirms and demands to have her 2 feet on the pool floor.  She quickly expressed to us she does not like floats or intertube swim outfits.  She much more prefers her green swimmies!

Oh how thankful we are for pools in the Southern summer heat!

7 Sensational Years with More to Come!

7 Years Ago today, I started the day as a bride, anxious to walk down the aisle. Looking forward to a new and incredible journey.

Wa-Melon

Summertime. A time for lots of the best foods in the world. Tomato sandwiches, silver queen corn, squash casserole, and delicious "wa-melon".

Today, the chefs of 709 wanted in on the cutting of a watermelon action. This really resulted in me doing all the work and these 2 little loves eating the fruits of my labor. Literally.

At first, I thought the messy factor of cutting watermelon was the selling point for Charlie. Because that boy can find a mess and loves to be in the thick of it. However, after letting him learn to eat watermelon the ol' fashion way, his appetite became ravenous! Plus, he was still getting messy. It was a win-win for him!

In no time at all, Charlie learned eating watermelon is so much easier if you just use your muscles and lift it up!

This is pretty much what Charlie looked like through the duration of this morning activity!

My little mama was her usual good momma self and wanted to assist in the cutting up process. She would notify of any "mess" that she spotted and quickly grab her rag to clean it up for me! (Love that!) She was adamant that she would be using a fork to help me cut her piece of "wa-melon" up. Did I really expect less here?! Occasionally, she would take a nibble of a piece out of her bowl but she was having no part of the mess Charlie was a part of!

But finally, the peer pressure got to her and she dove in!

From the look on this sweet face, I think she loved the mess and taste of it all!

I love spending my summer days with these 2 messy chefs!

Injured!

While I am totally accustomed to bumps and bruises around here, I must say, my sweet Baby Bess is the most accident prone of all my children! At any given time, it is a definite that Charlie and Wylie's legs will be covered in bruises from either their mild form of WWF wrestling or from their use of imagination as they create crazy slides out of household objects, but Bess, bless her heart, she only WISHES she could get a bruise on her leg! This child's forehead takes every single spill! Concrete, hardwood, mulch, bathtubs, you name it, her forehead can hit it! (and probably has!!) Worst part is, here lately, it doesn't even knot up, it is like her forehead is so use to it, no knots are necessary, just a big ol' nasty black and blue shiner will do!

Today Baby Bess met the coffee table up close and personal! The coffee table that has been in our den everyday of her life. The coffee table that she constantly walks past never to be disturbed by its presence! But not today! Today, Bess' coordination and the coffee table didn't exactly see eye to eye! The large gash on her precious forehead made Bubba and I debate taking her for stitches! However after thinking it over, her mood and her forehead seem to be doing wonderfully so I think we are good to go!
So tonight, she is proudly sporting a Cars band-aid for her brother! And loving every minute of it!

I can only hope this is the last forehead injury until after the family pics in 2 weeks!

Slumber Par-Tay!

Maybe Amy and I have gone mad? Maybe it is summer boredom. Maybe we are about to learn a lesson on slumber partying with 5 little loves?! Whatever it is, this house has been full of energy today!!!
Ella and Lulu arrived this morning and the fun began as soon as the door was opened!
Lunch orders for 5 proved to be doable but confusing!

But surely bedtime would go much easier you might have thought. Because surely, they are worn out from a day of play! Clearly, the wrong idea here!!

Brave Amy's air mattress quickly became Charlie's new jumpy!

But finally, after all the bedtime hugs were given,

Our little loves were all tucked in.

And their fearless protectors, Charlie, "Boody" and Buzz, were there beside them just in case any boogie monsters appear tonight!

As a sidebar, we have been doing "bedtime" for now 1 hour and 15 minutes. I just heard the upstairs door open and close. And here Miss Ella is to grace us with an update of who is doing what in the room!! So glad I have a bed of my own tonight because I can pretty much guarantee Amy's restful night of beauty sleep is pretty much a goner!
