Refusal

It is no secret the Bailey children are strong willed and stubborn.  And while there are some battles I will fight and win with my children, there are other battles I will not.

Take for example Bess’ new obsession with her refusal to wear pajamas to bed.  Nightgowns, cute pj sets, you could F.O.R.G/E.T. about it.  One night she insisted on sleeping in her hand me down Easter outfit with a bunny and a skirt that matched.  Another night, a school outfit of a precious skirt and top were her bedtime attire.  Again, a battle that in the grand scheme of life, I chose not to fight.

So tonight, as I am tucking Bess in her bed for the , oh 100th time, I glance down to notice her little feet.

Yes, tonight my little love insists on sleeping in Crocs that are too big for her feet!  Never mind the very convincing argument I gave to try and persuade her to not wear these to bed, I failed!  And so, Crocs to bed it is!!!

Hopefully this little love will drift off to sleep soon, with her little feet adorned in her older sister’s beachwear shoes!

Oh…My Little Loves…

Dear Little Loves,

DSC_0438

Oh the imaginations you 2 have!  I am so thankful for the zest for life that you 2 have!  Even though there are moments where you 2 are irritated and annoyed with one another, my heart smiles a huge smile on days like these.  The times when you seek each other out to play an imaginary game of Woody and Jessie or you play a made up game of Target shopping or Save the World!  It warms my soul to know that deeply rooted between the 2 of you is a bond that no one can destroy!  You have been together since the beginning and there are days when you refuse to separate still!  I love that when no one is watching there are precious and innocent giggles that erupt from your rooms as you are together.  Granted you could possibly be up to no good but the giggles are still adorable!  I love that you look our for one another- you worry about each other and are concerned when the other is sick or upset!  You 2 little loves are so anxious to “get bigger” and it scares me and makes me sadder each time I think about it!  I cherish these silly dress up moments and do not want to imagine a time when you will not be excited to become a superhero!

Thank you for changing our lives, for making us smile each day and for filling our hearts with love!  I pray you always love each other and realize how special your bond is!

Love you lots and lots!

The Days of the Ball Field!!!

I know there will be one of these weeks when most of my afternoons are consumed by ball fields but thankfully right now we are only sportin it up on either a ball field or a soccer field twice a week!!

 DSC_0428

These 2 birds are so excited for Monday afternoons and their T ball games!  I must say, I have been thoroughly impressed with Wylie!   At first I figured she would pull her out girly ways and play for 1 week then be done with this sport but I have been pleasantly surprised!  I can’t say she is much for an outfielder because she does sit down in the dirt and choose to play with it rather than watch the ball and go after it but hey-  she is all about going to bat!  The girl really does have a swing!!   And, she is the only girl on her team of little boys!  She just wants to be able to do what her “big” brother does !  One minute she is all geared up in a glove and baseball hat and then she quickly comes home to dress in heels and her princess gear with a shopping cart and purse! Love her!!!

Charlie is all about T Ball!  He loves going to bat and trying with all his might to hit it as far as he can!  Last night, he hit a really good one that got past all the little hands on the field!  He has had to learn that he can’t always catch the ball and that sometimes even though you go after the ball, you don’t get it either!  But regardless, he is learning to love the sport!  I absolutely LOVE watching his little legs run with all his might and scurry onto the field!  And as a side note, what gives with my child looking like a little boy…where is my baby?!  DSC_0432

I am so thankful that these 2 loves get along **sometimes!  These last few days, they have seemed so grown up and “big”.  Seeing them in these outfits and hats, makes me realize how time is flying by and they are growing bigger by the minute!  I love that they are willing to try new things and aren’t afraid to learn!

Now, let’s play ball!

What I’m LOVIN….

These days, I have a few things that make me say to myself- “Self,  I am so lovin’ this!”  So, I figured I would share the happiness being found at 709 these days!

#1  “Magic Flowers”

Lately Bess is obsessed with finding “flowers” (really flower parts) that are magic.  Yesterday, she brought me this flower and was so excited because “It is magic Momma!”.  Of course it was more precious than magic but who could resist?

#2  “Hats”

While this is a messy one, I love that anytime you give Ben a bowl he immediately dumps the food out and places it on his head!  Hank is grateful for the table scraps and I am lovin the precious giggles coming from his belly!  That is why Target carries Windex Multipurpose- we love a mess around here!!!

#3 Digital Kim

In the forever long quest to regain my pre-baby body, I am embracing technology!  This week I met Digital Kim.  Friends, this chick will kick your behind!  While she does have a robotic tone in her voice, you will be sweating, hurting and so happy when she tells you your workout is over!  Just ask Bubs, she is intense-    yet, mildly and surprisingly comedic !!   In addition, I have become slightly obsessed with a new app My Fitness Pal.  WHO KNEW such things existed!  So onward we march in the skinny quest!

And while I know my list could go on and on… I will save all my ramblings for later!

Lovin My Life!

Hip-pitty Hop!

What a beautiful Easter day today was!  I am so thankful for all the blessings I have been given and count them one by one each and every day!

This morning, 4 anxious little ones , crept downstairs to discover some wonderful goodies from the Easter Bunny before heading to church!

Here are a few shots to tide the blog over while I edit the gazillion Easter egg hunt photos I have taken over the past few days!

And as usual, I ATTEMPT all the time to do a shot of all the 4 little loves… however, this is what I usually get!   Yet, wouldn’t trade it for the world!

Some Things Never Change

If you have been a reader of this blog, you might remember this picture which I am pretty sure won me the title of “Mother of the Year”.

100_5663 Our dear, sweet Wylie has never been a huge fan of anything on the healthy side- hence her nickname Junkfood Jane!

Tonight, my mind was taken back to this picture as we repeated over and over, what must be eaten off Wylie’s plate so she could return outside.

Except, tonight, no tears.  Just happy as could be sitting all alone while her family hung out together outdoors!  Sad part was, this child was a bit content!

Finally, though, her corn and potatoes were gone, freeing her from her solitary supper!

Bless this slow and stubborn eater!
