Christmas Tree Fun!

Oh how I love Christmas Tree Day!  And oh how Bubba has a love hate relationship with it!  As usual, today we loaded up the crew and headed to find the perfect tree!  I go for the biggest and fattest tree I can find!  Every year as we look, I plead with Bubba about getting a tree that is way to tall for our house- but oh how pretty they are when you see them standing there so lonely at the store!!  That is when I am reminded that when Bubba wins the lottery I can get a tree as big as I want and he won’t say a thing about it!  But, until then, the trees with the orange tags will do!  DSC_0227

Charlie and Wylie had been apart from each other all weekend so this outing was like their homecoming!  They were ALL OVER each other running up and down the tree aisles, dodging in and out of trees…it was a bit distracting for this momma in search of the perfect family tree!

However, we managed to find THE PERFECT TREE!!!!

And as an added bonus- the sweetest lady at the tree place took a family photo for us!  Love it when people offer to do that!

See that beauty to the left of us…that is YE OL’ CHRISTMAS TREE 2011!

Keeping in tradition, we called my dad who loves a project – especially a Christmas tree project!  So we headed home to wait for DooDad to arrive to help Bubs get our prize winning tree in the house!

(Now you know you have a heavy tree when they use a fork lift to load you up!)

The tree arrival at the house is always loaded with lots of good laughs and entertainment!

As usual, even though Bubs tells me to pick orange, we always have to do a little trimming! So out with the tape measure for Bubs and DooDad !

Attempt #1 at making our beautiful tree fit!

Too bad it was a no go and required a redo trimming session!

 DSC_0270

And a wee bit MORE trimming!

But finally we had a tree standing!  Now… don’t go looking for a point on the sucker because that beautiful tip of the tree is LONG GONE!!!

Ben gave this tree his smile of approval!

And Wylie interrupted her “shopping trip” to come and see what all the hype in the den was about!

And although I sense a tad bit of sarcasm in his voice, the love of my life, suffered over twisting, turning, pulling in and shifting our beautiful tree until this momma was completely happy!  Love a man with some patience for a girl over her tree!!!

Now, sure hope that Magic Elf of ours , Mr. Jingles, gets those lights up on it tonight while I rest my eyes!!!

Innocence

Tonight while our family sat at the dinner table, it started raining.  This small event led to some precious conversations that I couldn’t help but record, hopefully holding onto forever!

DSC_0001

As Wy noticed it was raining she said “Mom, did you know God lives at school and he pushed the button and made it rain so the flowers could grow.”  We went on to talk to each other about this statement and was quickly taken back to my Bible Study from this past Sunday.

In our study, the conversation came up about what children think God and Jesus look like- meaning, what do they picture Him looking like in their heads.

So I asked Wy and Charlie what Jesus looked like.  Their response was precious and innocent.

Wylie informed me Jesus has black hair and wears a pink shirt.

Charlie went on to tell me Jesus has white hair like Santa but wears a red shirt like Spiderman.

I couldn’t help but smile.  For all we know, this could be the total truth and one of these days I might be standing at the gates giggling because I am in front of a the Lord who just so happens to be wearing either a pink or red shirt.

Either way, it warmed my heart to hear my sweet babies discussing their 3 year old thoughts on Jesus and his outfit!  I was thankful I could have this conversation with them. I was thankful they wanted to have this conversation with me.  And I know, truth or not, The Lord above probably cracked a smile as he heard their innocent thoughts!

3 Year Olds + Potty = Plumber

I am not sure why my children are obsessed with toilets.  They are truly infatuated with them!  And while I am thrilled that they know how to use them for the bathroom purposes intended, I only wish they understand the potty concept a bit more!

Monday night, Bubba and I noticed the potty in their bathroom wasn’t exactly working properly.  Knowing that Wylie has a slight fascination  with baby wipes….she was our first culprit!

With questioning and threatening of Santa Clause and his elves, we quickly learned she had filled the potty up with almost an entire pack of baby wipes before flushing!  While we were not thrilled, we thought, at least we know the problem!

DSC_0161

Tuesday rolls around and Bubba has an all out war with the potty.  He borrows a plumber snake, buys a new plunger but with all his might and force, he was unable to dislodge what we believed to be the strongest wipes in America.

As we headed to bed, we both knew a plumber would be visiting the Bailey Bunch soon!

Luckily today, some very sweet man, arrives to fix the potty Wylie broke.  We hear him upstairs, water gushing onto the floor.  We hear tubing being forced down the pipes as we attempted to enjoy our delicious supper.  We hear the potty flushing but then more plunging.  It didn’t sound good, especially when he informed Bubba he may be removing the potty.

So as we sat at the table,  talking about the man upstairs, a small little voice and his admission is heard!

DSC_0158 DSC_0159

C:  “ I put Mater in the potty for a bath”  (giggle giggle)

Me:  “You what?”

C:  “I put Mater in the potty for a bath and now the potty is broken.”

And with this admission, I should have been upset.  I should have gone into full out how could you mode….BUT-  what would you do if this face was looking at you, giggling and smiling?!

So… in the end, we came out $90 poorer and minus 1 Mater Car matchbox car!

Little Boys… that’s about all I can say on that one!

Reunited and it Feel So Good!

Tonight, Bess is being treated to a grandparents spoil session, therefore, C & W wanted to have a slumber party in their room.  Just like the good ol’ days… these 2 are so excited to be sleeping in the same room again tonight!

DSC_0133

Now lets see if they remain this precious of if we end up having to send C back to his room due to the amount of wrestling and racket these 2 are known for!

Almost Up…

First… please excuse the messiness of my child in these pictures.  After a battle with a teething cookie, this little love found a leaf… the leaf appears to have won!

DSC_0113

Guess who is going to quite possibly skip crawling because he loves pulling up?!

ps- that is no birthmark but a lingering piece of the leaf!

Momma’s Weekend Get Away!

This past weekend, this momma got away while Super Dad and the 4 kids stayed back in the Thrill!  Although, I know it was no easy feat, I think Bubba did a super job- seeing as the house was still standing and all 4 kids survived!  I knew it wasn’t a biggie for him!

Friday afternoon , Yaya, Mandi and I headed to Savannah for a weekend getaway!  Other than the chilly wind, the weekend was wonderful!!

Saturday morning we awoke to make a beeline for the Rock & Roll Marathon to congratulate Chris and Fran as than ran across the finish line of their first 1/2 marathon and full marathon!  They both did a fantastic job!  Seeing this whole experience was completely eye opening and inspiring!  I couldn’t help but puddle up behind my glasses was I watched people crossing the finish line.  Thanks C & F for letting me share in on such a big memory!

I thought this was neat… I held up my camera at one point and just snapped!  When I got home, I realized this man who was finishing the marathon (running in the skinny lane to the right of the photo) had at some point grabbed his child and they were running the last stretch together!  PRECIOUS!!  I have no idea who this man is but it was the sights like this that got me!  People holding hands, cheering each other on…  such a happy and memorable moment!

DSC_0086

After congratulating the marathoners, us girls headed to the river for a small afternoon stroll!  So thankful I was able to find the world’s BEST blood marys again!  I seriously encourage everyone who is ever in Savannah to go to Huey’s … their Bloodys are BY FAR the best in the world!

A wonderful dinner at Uncle Bubba’s topped off our day and we were tucked soundly in our beds before 10!!!

It was a great get away and down time!  Thanks ladies!  Had a blast and Fran… can’t wait til you run R&R Nashville!  We will be there to support ya!! (hint hint) No pressure though!

And what could be better than coming home to Sheriff Woody in his “vest jacket”,
